MG University WES secondary re verification process
Based on the feedback we had on our last article How To Apply For Transcript From Mahatma Gandhi (MG) University, Kerala, we are detailing the process of WES asking for re-verification once you submit the transcript.
Why WES asking for secondary verification?
Below is the screenshot of an email from WES received by many applicants after submitting the transcript to WES.
As you can see, WES states “increase of fraud” as the primary reason for re-verification. WES directly contacts the university to evaluate authenticity of the documents submitted by both emails and by post.
MG University Process for re-verification
MG University will send below email to candidates for payment of reverification fee of $50 each for transcript/degree certificate. If WES ask the university for both transcript and Degree Certificate fee it will be $100. Else it will be $50 for just the transcript. This will be mentioned in the email from university.
How to complete the re-verification process?
- WES will let you know by email when it has asked the university for secondary verification.
- MG University will receive the request both electronically(email) and via post.
- MG University contacts you via email within two weeks and asks to pay the re-verification fee.
- Visit the online payment portal and pay US $50 or $100 ( This will be the amount mentioned by the university in the email) https://epay.mgu.ac.in/Candfee/feeoptions/1056
6. Sent the payment receipt to the email mentioned by the university in the memo.
How long does it take to complete the whole process?
WES typically asks for secondary verification within 2 weeks of getting a transcript from MG University. University should contact you in another two weeks time for the payment. Once you made the payment, it takes about 3 weeks for the university to respond to WES and another week for WES to process. So in total, it can take about 6-8 weeks to process your WES evaluation.
Example timeline:-
11-Dec – WES asks university for re-verification
24-Dec – MG University sends the email for payment (within 2 weeks)
25-Dec- Online payment made and receipt submitted
15-Jan – MG university respond to WES email request (within 2-3 weeks)
22-Jan – WES process your evaluation report (within 1 week)
Do I need to visit the university for completing re-verification?
Not required as the university only need the fee to be paid online and receipt sent to them via email. Also, University will be responding to WES via email and no physical documents are prepared or send. This is a verification process between the university and WES. We only need to pay the re-verification fee online.

How to contact University and check the status of your application?Â
I’m confused about the below two fields:
– Reg No/Ref No. : Is this the university reg no. or WES ref no?
– address for communication: mine or WES?

It is University Registration Number.
It should be your Registration number which can be found on your degree certificate. You should always mention WES reference number in the address of the recipient.
Any idea whether there will be only verification for Master degree alone or bachelor degree also by wes, if both are from MG university. I have received notification from MBA alone from MG for fee submission. wes status changed on 29 jan for reverification.
Check status on WES website for the bachelor degree.

WES has asked for re-verification but the university hasn’t contacted us yet. Do you know which email id we need to send the receipt at, or any contact number where we can get the information?
The respective department will contact you within 2 weeks. If not, check with information center at university.
Wes has asked me to reverify Both Transcript and Degree certificate. I was informed by the university that i have to pay 50$ for each set of verification. That would be 50$+50$ for both documents
Usually, $50 is required for both re-verification. Anyway check with the university to confirm
Same for me. University is asking to pay $100 for both transcript and degree certificate.

WES requested re verification for both Degree Certificate & Transcript for my B-Tech Degree on Feb 7th.
I received the below memo from University today.
“As per reference, a candidate has to remit $ 50 (Fifty U. S dollars) each for sending re-
verified Official Transcript/Marklists/Degree Certificate, per course, to WES.
Hence you are directed to remit $ .50( Fifty US dollars) through e-payment mode and
send the soft copy of the receipt to the email ID of the section given below immediately. Your
reverification statement will only be sent to WES after receipt of the e-payment receipt for the above said
amount.”
Summary: Need to pay $50 for one course (Official Transcript/Marklists/Degree Certificate). No need to pay $50 each for degree certificate, Transcript for the same course.

Thanks KJ. I will add this to the article.
I would like to add few observations from my experience and others who are facing similar re verification issue.
– If university can send the Transcript & Degree certificate in the same package, chances for Re-verification is less.
– In most of the cases, re verification happens when transcript is sent from university to WES and sending Degree certificate directly to WES saperately.( which is fine as per WES).
– If you are planning to sent the degree certificate separately, please make sure both transcript and degree certificate reach almost same time frame.
Above observations are from my personal experience and people who have already gone thru different scenarios.

Please find my comments to the 2 questions posted.
1 – For me WES updated the status for re-verification on Feb7th and i got the email from university on Feb 17th. So it took 7 working days. (heard it differ from course to course).
2 – For B-tech it came from ei.xvii.btech@gmail.com. Again it is based on the course.

Is there any official fees details from MGU regarding this? Because for me they are asking $100 for Transcript and Degree certificate (B-tech) course.
yes, in my case there was reverification for both bcom n mcom, n had to pay 200usd.
I applied on oct 1st week, univ sent doc on nov 3rd week, wes updated 24 dec for reverification, univ called me Feb 2nd week, i paid 200usd, n they told me they have sent it. Still waiting for wes update, only guesses now, no idea whats gonna happen.fed up
